Goa, a paradise of scenic charm, settled beautifully amidst seas and lush greenness, is a dream destination of millions of travelers across the globe. Indian culture intertwines with Portuguese influences left over from a 500-year occupation. The beaches have long served as a magnet for serene hedonists. To the north, the tourist-centric scene is prevalent, with an international flair that is now skewing more hip than hippie. Travel south for stretches of unspoiled sand and an escape from large resorts. The glistening sands, exotic beaches, and scrumptious sea food is the specialty of Goa. October to February is very pleasant and is the best time to visit Goa.
The party capital of India, this little paradise on earth is a package full of surprises and contradictions. Apart from happening beaches and nighclubs in both north and south districts, Goa has a number of unexplored beaches, obscure caves and other secrets spots waiting to be explored. Other highlights of Goa include its rich Portuguese history, amazing seafood and the friendly and vivacious locals.
Welcome to the surreal beauty of a vast expanse of the clear blue sea and silver sandy beaches, the verdant lofty mountains and the imposing grand forts and cathedrals.Goa offers a complete holiday experience for every traveller. You can either lounge on a sun bed with a cool drink in hand or be a total party animal at the happening club parties. Those looking for an adrenaline rush will find plenty of action on the beaches. History buffs and pious souls will find their spot in Old Goa that is home to many ornate churches, magnificent cathedrals and ancient temples, each with its own colourful history. A foodie-haven for sea-food lovers, Goan cuisine is an interesting blend of the Konkan and Portuguese cooking styles. To sum it up, between its Portuguese past, its fishing village feel, its world famous beaches, ancient temples, paddy fields and plantations, Goa has something for everyone. This very tiny patch of India’s west coast is very large-hearted land indeed. The Portuguese rule from 1510 to 1961 left its imprint on local language, religion, cuisine, music, and of course, built heritage. The sea beaches and hills were gifted by nature. Tourism brought water sports, Western migrants brought alternative ways of life, and everyone seems to have brought beer and fish.
Goa is the land of never-ceasing festivity. This pristine abode of sand, sun and water is always brimming with a frenzy of its own – cheery and festive – all around the year. Pop open a bottle of Feni and you are up for another celebration. Some of the festivals celebrated in Goa include Christmas, Ganesh Chaturthi, St. Francis Day, the Goa Carnival, Shigmotsav (Holi) and Food and Cultural Festival of Goa.
